ISO 26262 HARA: hazard analysis and risk assessment, explained

HARA is the ISO 26262-3 step that turns a system description into a table of hazardous events, each rated for severity, exposure, and controllability (S/E/C), then assigned an Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) via a fixed lookup table, not a judgment call. Most teams still run this in Excel, Word, Jama, or IBM DOORS: tools that store and link requirements but do not draft the hazard list, do not re-derive the ASIL rating from the standard's own table, and do not notice when a hazard goes stale as the system changes.

Certus drafts the hazard list and S/E/C ratings from a system description or a GitHub repo, then re-derives the ASIL server-side from the same fixed table an assessor would use, with ASIL C and D findings always routed to a human.
